The colour purple has been associated with royalty, power and wealth.
To make the pre-primary students aware of purple colour, the PURPLE DAY was celebrated at GRD school on 17th November, 2021. The students were asked to dress up in anything purple. Children brought purple-coloured favourite objects such as toys, doll, cars, flowers, etcetera to the school.
A lot of activities pertaining to purple colour were also taken such as making of Origami dog, singing of purple song, colouring shapes in purple, kite making activity etc. A hunting activity was conducted for them where the teachers hid the purple-coloured objects in their classroom which they had to search. Visual mode was used for presenting various purple things in nature such as fruits, vegetables, flowers etc.
This activity particularly focused on word building as the children grasp maximum words in this early age. They participated well by bringing purple coloured eatable also like jelly, pancake, grapes and malabar plum.
The purpose of Celebration with education was fulfilled. It gave them a breathing space from regular routine while fun learning happened at the same time.
